Workability, strength, and shrinkage of ultra-high-performance seawater, sea sand concrete with different OPC replacement ratios

چکیده

An experimental investigation on the chemical, physical, mechanical, and shrinkage of seawater sea sand-based ultra-high-performance concrete (UHP-SWSSC) with supplementary cementitious materials (SCM) (i.e. slag silica fume) is reported. Several mixes were designed varying proportions SCMs (25%, 37.5%, 50%, 62.5% binder), aggregate source, water-to-binder ratio. Heat evolution, density, workability, compressive strength development, long-term autogenous drying UHP-SWSSC monitored. Seawater accelerates cement hydration as reflected in heat consequently, dictates early-age strength, shrinkage. SCM addition although limits development offers a comparable 90 days strength. The chloride content increases from marine resources may limit application to nonstructural components. Nonetheless, mix 50% OPC replaced by 37.5% 12.5% fume recommended this study, which can achieve satisfactory properties.

Shrinkage of High Strength Concrete

This paper presents the results of an experimental investigation carried out to evaluate the shrinkage of High Strength Concrete. High Strength Concrete is made by partially replacement of cement by flyash and silica fume. The shrinkage of High Strength Concrete has been studied using the different types of coarse and fine aggregates i.e. Sandstone and Granite of 12.5 mm size and Yamuna and Bad...

Optimization of fully replacement of natural sand by m-sand In high performance concrete with nanosilica

Abstract— In recent days the demand for river sand is increasing due to its lesser availability. Hence the practice of replacing river sand with M-Sand is taking a tremendous growth. It is also inferred from the literature that replacement of normal sand with M-Sand produces no appreciable increase in compressive strength due to the variation in the pore size of concrete at micro level. This pa...

Performance of High-strength Concrete Made with Recycled Ceramic Aggregates

Recent scientific concerns to achieve sustainability in construction have suggested the implementation of using recycled aggregate in concrete because it has the potential to reduce the demand for extraction of natural raw materials and decrease the volume of wastes landfilled. In this respect, this study aims to investigate the suitability of using ceramic tile (CT) and ceramic sanitary (CS) w...

Evaluation of Autogenous Shrinkage in High-Performance Concrete

Recent tendencies in concrete technology have been towards to high- performance concrete with a low water-cement ratio. However, high performance concretes have some problems. One of the problems is early-age cracking due to autogenous shrinkage. This study presents the results of an experimental investigation carried out to evaluate the autogenous shrinkage of high-strength concrete. Accordi...

Influence of Fracture Width on Sealability in High-Strength and Ultra-Low-Permeability Concrete in Seawater

For cementitious composites and materials, the sealing of fractures can occur in water by the precipitation of calcium compounds. In this study, the sealing behavior in a macro-fractured high-strength and ultra-low-permeability concrete (HSULPC) specimen was investigated in simulated seawater using micro-focus X-ray computed tomography (CT). In particular, the influence of fracture width (0.10 ...
